CARIBOU – It has been more than a month since a masked man walked through the darkness up to the drive-thru window of the McDonald’s Restaurant on Bennett Drive.
He reportedly told the employee working at the window that he had a gun. The masked man demanded and received the cash before fleeing the scene.
Although there are some leads in the case, Sgt. Ron Curtis of the Caribou Police Department said Thursday, investigators have yet to make any arrests.
The Sept. 1 robbery unfolded just before 11 p.m. when an employee of the restaurant called police to say that an individual wearing a ski mask had walked up to the drive-thru window and told the employee that he had a weapon.
He then demanded the employee put cash from the register into a bag.
The employee complied and the individual took off on foot.
The Maine State Police brought in a dog and tracked the person’s scent out Route 89 before it was lost, but physical evidence was recovered and has been sent to the Maine State Police Crime Laboratory.
Police have declined to disclose how much money was taken.
Officers Douglas Bell, Keith Ouellette and Chris Bouchard are investigating the case.
