Davis, Qualey lift Cougars past Pandas

STACYVILLE – Marshall Davis scored the winner with 3:52 left in the first half to lift undefeated Katahdin to a 2-0 schoolboy soccer victory over Lee Academy Monday.

Ethan Qualey added an insurance goal off a Billy Duffy assist with 1:03 remaining in the second half. Matt Tarr turned away one of two shots for 11-0 Katahdin.

Jacob Kuester saved 25 of 34 shots for 2-8-1 Lee Academy.

Presque Isle 3, Old Town 1

At Presque Isle, Eric Morris and Russ Mortland scored unassisted goals two minutes apart just four minutes into the game as the Wildcats rolled and improved their record to 10-0-1.

Josh Allen added a goal off an assist from Warren Zubrick with 19:49 left in the first half for the Wildcats and Dillon Kingsbury finished with five saves on eight shots.

Luke Bartlett scored on a Jacob St. Peter assist with 33 minutes left in the game for 6-3-2 Old Town and Alex Caballero made 17 saves on 23 shots.

JV: Presque Isle 7-0

Orono 2, Fort Kent 1

At Orono on Saturday, Brandon Paul scored off an assist from Phil Benoit with 4:33 remaining, lifting the Red Riots to victory.

Lee Hecker’s unassisted first-half goal had tied the game at 1-1. A.J. Coleman made two saves on three shots for 8-3 Orono.

Thomas Levesque scored an unassisted goal for 9-4-1 Fort Kent. Matt Harvey made 17 saves on 19 shots.

Orono 8, George Stevens 1

At Blue Hill, Lee Hecker scored a goal and assisted on another while Chris Johnson and Ian Staples netted two goals apiece as Orono rolled.

Phil Holmes and Matt Clarr added a goal each for the 7-3 Red Riots. Terry Eaton had three saves on four shots.

Michael Fenter-Zapata scored for 4-6-1 George Stevens. Josh Gale saved eight of 24 shots.

JV: Orono 3-1

Calais 3, Woodland 3 (2OT)

At Calais, Calais’ Jordan Leeman and Woodland’s Todd Wormell didn’t allow a goal through two overtimes.

Sabrizio Soberanis, Steven Rogers and Jeremy Carr scored for 6-3-1 Calais. Leeman turned away 19 of 29 shots.

Scott Boomer, Chad James, Andrew Brown scored for the 7-3-1 Dragons. Ben Sears provided two assists. Wormell made 21 saves on 27 shots.

WA Raiders 3, Narraguagus 0

At Harrington, Milos Gautier, Nick Hickson and Sung Min Kim scored to lead Washington Academy of East Machias past Narraguagus.

Bryce Colbeth saved two of three shots for the Raiders.

Kameron Jordan turned away nine of 17 shots for the Knights.

Ellsworth 3, Bucksport 0

At Bucksport, Seth Cote, Andrew Austin and Matt Duhaime netted unassisted goals for Ellsworth in the win.

Justin Kane had eight saves on 12 shots for the 8-1-1 Eagles.

Joe Goodin stopped 18 of 23 shots for 4-6-1 Bucksport.

JV: Ellsworth 2-0

Girls soccer

Katahdin 1, Lee 1 (2OT)

At Stacyville, Dani-Beth Cyr of Katahdin and Lee Academy’s Felicia Thorton didn’t allow a goal through two overtimes.

Brooke Livezey gave 4-5-2 Katahdin a 1-0 lead with 15 minutes left in the first half. Melissa Duffy provided the assist and Cyr stopped 16 of 17 shots.

Heidi Sappier tied it with 1:49 remaining in regulation for 3-5-1 Lee. Thorton saved 12 of 13 shots.

Calais 8, Shead 1

At Eastport, Courtney Hill and Lauren Remington had two goals and an assist apiece as Calais improved to 4-4.

Ally Hill, Tessa Clark, Whitney Remington and Alex McVicar scored the other goals and Krista Morrison had two assists. Hillary Hollingdale made six saves on 12 shots.

Kirby McPhail scored for 3-7 Shead with Krysti Longfellow assisting on it. Cassandra Stanhope and Jenny Cushing combined for 20 saves on 22 shots.

Sumner 2, DI-Stonington 1

At East Sullivan, Lona Sargent scored two second-half goals to rally the Tigers to victory after they trailed 1-0 at halftime.

Sargent’s first goal was assisted by Tashia Dailey two minutes into the half and the second was unassisted with 23 minutes left in the game.

Kelsey Tucker made 14 saves on 18 shots for the 3-8 winners.

Esther Adams scored unassisted 10 minutes into the game for 3-4-2 Deer Isle-Stonington and Anika Powers made 11 saves on 20 shots.

Rockland 1, Belfast 0

At Rockland, Baillie Boggs scored off a Joelle Joyce assist with 27:54 left in regulation to lead Rockland past Belfast.

Natalie Russell turned away 21 of 27 shots for 6-4-1 Rockland.

Destiney Pinkham saved five of 11 shots for 4-6-1 Belfast.

Greenville 2, Calvary Chapel 0

At the University College field in Bangor, Carli Peat’s goal with about 28 minutes left in the game snapped a scoreless tie and gave the Lakers the victory.

Holly Hersey added an unassisted goal with about two minutes left in the game and Sidney Richardson made eight saves on eight shots for 4-0-4 Greenville.

Hannah Lacadie made 14 saves on 19 shots for 2-7 Calvary Chapel of Orrington.

Hermon 3, Central 0

At Hermon, Lindsey Allen booted home a penalty kick to lead the Hermon Hawks past Central.

Katie Durgin and Nicole Turmel added goals and Danielle Ross an assist for 3-7 Hermon. Sara Bishop saved all four shots.

Shari Shina saved 16 of 22 shots for 2-9 Central of Corinth.

Field hockey

Camden Hills 4, Rockland 0

At Rockland, Monica Doucette scored two goals as Camden Hills of Rockport shut out Rockland.

Kathryn Maguire and Maci Heal scored for the 4-5-1 Windjammers. Rachelle Grenert, Katie Weiler and Mary Jane Young recorded assists. Sarah Nason stopped all seven shots.

McKayla Follett saved four of 10 shots for 1-8 Rockland.

Foxcroft 1, Piscataquis 0 (OT)

At Dover-Foxcroft, Sabrina Sharrow scored the game’s only goal with 4:47 remaining in overtime as Foxcroft Academy triumphed.

Mariah Arno assisted on the goal for the 8-2 Ponies. Cassie Curtis didn’t face any shots in goal.

Brianna Tweedie stopped 35 of 36 shots for 0-11 Piscataquis of Guilford.
