Genevieve Turgeon
University of Maine senior goaltender Genevieve Turgeon was named the Women’s Hockey East Pure Hockey Defensive Player of the Week. Turgeon went 1-1 with 92 saves and a .911 save percentage in two games at North Dakota.
Alex Gomes
University of Southern Maine freshman Alex Gomes was honored as the Little East Conference Men’s Cross Country Rookie of the Week. Gomes placed eighth at the Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College. He was second among USM runners with a time of 27:12 on the 5-mile course.
Gabby Cyr
University of Southern Maine senior Gabby Cyr of Fort Kent was named the Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week by the Little East Conference. Cyr was first for USM and third overall at the Pop Crowell Invitational. She ran the 5K course in a time of 18:52.
David Kraps
University of Southern Maine junior goalkeeper David Kraps was named the Little East Conference Men’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the week. Kraps made nine saves on 10 shots in two games, including a shutout over Plymouth State.
Kayla Daigle
University of Maine at Fort Kent sophomore goalie Kayla Daigle was named the Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week by the Sunrise Conference. Daigle had two saves in a 9-0 win over College of St. Joseph of Vermont and had another six saves in a 3-0 win over Vermont Tech.
Trevor Hews
University of Maine at Presque Isle junior Trevor Hews was honored as the Sunrise Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. Hews had shutout wins over Vermont Tech and College of St. Joseph and a 3-2 win over UMaine Machias.
Hannah Smith
Sophomore Hannah Smith of the University of Maine at Presque Isle was named the Sunrise Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. Smith finished 88th out of 276 runners at the Pop Crowell Invitational. She ran a time of 21:51 on the 5K course.
Kurt Whistler
University of Maine at Presque Isle sophomore Kurt Whistler was honored as the Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week by the Sunrise Conference. Whistler placed 66 out of 232 runners in the Pop Crowell Invitational. He had a time of 29:20 on the 8K course.
Johannah Bubar
Junior Johannah Bubar of the University of Maine at Presque Isle was named the Sunrise Conference Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week. Bubar helped the Owls to a 2-1 week with 10 aces against Lyndon State,10 kills against Unity and six digs against Maine Maritime.
Tom Daley
Colby College safety Tom Daley was named the NESCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week. Daley had two fumble recoveries in the Mules’ 13-7 win over Wesleyan University.
Amanda Sebastiao
Saint Joseph’s College forward Amanda Sebastiao was honored as the North Atlantic Conference Field Hockey Rookie of the Week. Sebastiao scored the winning goal in a 4-2 come-from-behind victory over Saint Joseph’s College.
