Sargent scores 2 goals in Sumner victory

EAST SULLIVAN – Lona Sargent scored two second-half goals to rally the Sumner Tigers to 2-1 schoolgirl soccer victory over Deer Isle-Stonington Monday after they trailed 1-0 at halftime.

Sargent’s first goal was assisted by Tashia Dailey two minutes into the half and the second was unassisted with 23 minutes left in the game.

Kelsey Tucker made 14 saves on 18 shots for the 3-8 winners.

Esther Adams scored unassisted 10 minutes into the game for 3-4-2 Deer Isle-Stonington and Anika Powers made 11 saves on 20 shots.

Calais 8, Shead 1

At Eastport, Courtney Hill and Lauren Remington had two goals and an assist apiece as Calais improved to 4-4.

Ally Hill, Tessa Clark, Whitney Remington and Alex McVicar scored the other goals and Krista Morrison had two assists. Hillary Hollingdale made six saves on 12 shots.

Kirby McPhail scored for 3-7 Shead with Krysti Longfellow assisting on it. Cassandra Stanhope and Jenny Cushing combined for 20 saves on 22 shots.

Mt. Blue 1, Hampden 0

At Farmington, Leigh Ronald scored the winner on a penalty kick 20 minutes into the first half to lead Mt. Blue past Hampden Academy.

Allison Brown saved all seven shots to earn the shutout for 7-3 Mt. Blue.

Julia Snyder turned away six of seven shots for 5-4 Hampden.

JV: Hampden 2-0

Rockland 1, Belfast 0

At Rockland, Baillie Boggs scored off a Joelle Joyce assist with 27:54 left in regulation to lead Rockland past Belfast.

Natalie Russell turned away 21 of 27 shots for 6-4-1 Rockland.

Destiney Pinkham saved five of 11 shots for 4-6-1 Belfast.

Boys soccer

Greenville 3, Calvary Chapel 2

At Greenville, sophomore Dylan Bouchard and freshman Kenny Howard each scored their first-ever high school goals to lead the Lakers to victory.

Bouchard finished with two goals, both assisted by Richie Chilson, and the second gave the Lakers the winning edge 3:50 into the second half.

Howard scored when he headed in a corner kick from Tony DiAngelo with two minutes left in the first half. Alex Jardine made 10 saves on 12 shots.

Steven Berenyi scored two unassisted second-half goals for 4-3-1 Calvary Chapel of Orrington and Devon Warman made 16 saves on 21 shots.

Orono 8, George Stevens 1

At Blue Hill, Lee Hecker scored a goal and assisted on another while Chris Johnson and Ian Staples netted two goals apiece as Orono rolled.

Phil Holmes and Matt Clarr added a goal each for the 7-3 Red Riots. Terry Eaton had three saves on four shots.

Michael Fenter-Zapata scored for 4-6-1 George Stevens. Josh Gale saved eight of 24 shots.

Calais 3, Woodland 3 (2OT)

At Calais, Calais’ Jordan Leeman and Woodland’s Todd Wormell didn’t allow a goal through two overtimes.

Sabrizio Soberanis, Steven Rogers and Jeremy Carr scored for 6-3-1 Calais. Leeman turned away 19 of 29 shots.

Scott Boomer, Chad James, Andrew Brown scored for the 7-3-1 Dragons. Ben Sears provided two assists. Wormell made 21 saves on 27 shots.

Central 1, John Bapst 1 (2OT)

At Corinth, Patrick Byers scored the tying goal with 1:47 left in the first half on a direct kick to help Central earn a tie after two overtimes with John Bapst of Bangor.

Cole Haskell saved 14 of 19 shots for 5-4-3 Central.

Andrew Casey scored off a Jordan Myers assist in the first half for 4-4-2 John Bapst. Casey Hull stopped 19 of 28 shots.

JV: John Bapst 8-0

WA Raiders 3, Narraguagus 0

At Harrington, Milos Gautier, Nick Hickson and Sung Min Kim scored to lead Washington Academy of East Machias past Narraguagus.

Bryce Colbeth saved two of three shots for the Raiders.

Kameron Jordan turned away nine of 17 shots for the Knights.

Ellsworth 3, Bucksport 0

At Bucksport, Seth Cote, Andrew Austin and Matt Duhaime netted unassisted goals for Ellsworth in the win.

Justin Kane had eight saves on 12 shots for the 8-1-1 Eagles.

Joe Goodin stopped 18 of 23 shots for 4-6-1 Bucksport.

JV: Ellsworth 2-0

Bangor Chr. 8, Searsport 0

At Bangor, Brett Bradford scored three goals and assisted another as Bangor Christian defeated Searsport.

Brandon Wilcox had two goals and an assist for the 7-2 Patriots. Bradley Wilcox added a goal and three assists. Tyler Alexander and Bruce Lee also scored. Nate Fowler provided an assist as Tim Whitaker did not have a save on one shot.

Dan Peach saved 20 of 30 shots for 1-10 Searsport.

Mount View 2, Lincoln Acad. 1

At Thorndike, Kiel Lemieux scored two unassisted goals in the game’s first 10 minutes to lift the Mustangs by the Eagles of South China.

Nick Knight made 13 saves on 20 shots for the 4-6 Mustangs.

Troy Carter scored a second-half goal off an Ethan Wajer assist for the 6-4 Eagles and Kyle Scherer made seven saves on 13 shtos.

JV: Mount View 1-0

Field hockey

Camden Hills 4, Rockland 0

At Rockland, Monica Doucette scored two goals as Camden Hills of Rockport shut out Rockland.

Kathryn Maguire and Maci Heal scored for the 4-5-1 Windjammers. Rachelle Grenert, Katie Weiler and Mary Jane Young recorded assists. Sarah Nason stopped all seven shots.

McKayla Follett saved four of 10 shots for 1-8 Rockland.

Belfast 2, Erskine 0

At Belfast, Ori Downs scored the winner off a Danielle Littlefield assist with 26:25 remaining in the first half to lift Belfast over Erskine Academy of South China.

Little added an insurance goal with an assist from Crystle Kirby with 3:49 left in regulation. Paxton Mohney and Emma Hamm combined to stop all three shots for 8-2 Belfast.

Barbara Cutter saved 15 of 17 shots for 2-8 Erskine Academy.

Dexter 4, Old Town 3

At Dexter, Cally Mountain scored a goal and assisted another as Dexter held on to a 4-1 lead to beat Old Town.

Katie Eastman, Olivia Gardner and Jess Mason scored for the 10-0 Tigers. Crissy Mountain provided two assists while Claire Wyman and Kara Lawson had assists. Sam Conway stopped five of eight shots.

Sarah Wilcox scored two goals for the 5-3-1 Coyotes. Molly Baillargeon had a goal as Lindsay St. Louis and Elexa Nickerson recorded assists. Heather Nye saved six of 14 shots.

JV: Dexter 2-0
