BANGOR – Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Johnathan Smith has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Smith is the brother of Melissa Smith of Bangor. In 2005, the airman graduated from Bangor High School.

BRADFORD – Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Ashley L. Bubar has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

She is the daughter of Rodney and Amy Bubar of Bradford. Bubar is a 2004 graduate of Central High School, Corinth.

Air Force Senior Airman Juan P. Meneses is deployed to Afghanistan, serving with the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing at Bagram Air Field to help ensure terrorist insurgents do not regain a foothold in the region. Meneses is an analyst providing support and training for the Afghan national police, along with humanitarian aid to the area.

He is the son of Cindy L. Thomas of Sidney and Arturo G. Meneses of Newport and a 2005 graduate of Messalonskee High School, Oakland.

Army National Guard Spec. Vilia J. Burbank has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Burbank is the daughter of Loen and Donalie Burbank of Solon. In 1989, the specialist graduated from Carrabec High School, North Anson, and received a bachelor’s degree in 1995 from Lesley University, Cambridge, Mass.

Air Force Airman Ryan A. Elliott has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Elliott earned distinction as an honor graduate of the course.

He is the son of Michele L. Daniels of Brewer.

The airman is a 2004 graduate of Brewer High School.

Army Reserve Pvt. Garrison L. Pratt has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Pratt is the son of Lisa Pratt of Carmel and the grandson of Joann Shipes of Dothan, Ala.

The private is a 2007 graduate of Hermon High School.
