BAR HARBOR – Carriages of Acadia, a corporation based in Aroostook County, has been selected to provide horse drawn carriage tours, horse boarding services, day use facilities, and services for visiting equestrians at Wildwood Stables in Acadia National Park. The new 10-year contract is scheduled to begin in January 2009. Carriages of Acadia is owned by Michael Carpenter, a lifelong resident of Maine who is a longtime horseman and practicing lawyer in Houlton.

“I am absolutely thrilled to have been selected for this contract, and I look forward to taking an already excellent program at Wildwood and doing my best to improve it,” Carpenter said. “My goal is to make the various services at Wildwood Stables a centerpiece of the park experience to enhance the memories of Acadia for its many visitors. I look forward to working with the park staff and the other people involved in this great natural wonder.”
