The 22nd annual Eastport Chamber of Commerce Salmon Dinner, which was scheduled for Sept. 7, “had to be canceled because of extreme weather conditions,” explained Eleanor Norton of Eastport.

However, “a group of citizens from the Chamber of Commerce and Christ Episcopal Church decided to try again” to continue this tradition.

As a result of that effort, the public is now invited to enjoy Salmon Sunday, with seatings at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at Eastport Elementary School.

“Phyllis Siebert, Blaine House chef for five governors, will be preparing the dinner,” Norton wrote.

“Proceeds will help the Chamber recover its losses, and all profits will benefit the John Pike Grady Scholarship Fund at the Boat School.”

Norton explained that Brady, who died Sept. 3, “was a founder and supporter of the Boat School, and continuing to support the Scholarship Fund will be a special way to pay tribute to him,” she added.

“We hope all of those who looked forward to this annual event will join us.”
