BLUE HILL – After six months of ticket sales to raffle off a handmade quilt and sweater, a winner was drawn for each on Oct. 4 after the annual Harvest Dinner and Auction at the Halcyon Grange Hall. Norma Shellenberger of Blue Hill won a handmade sweater by Carrie Saunders, and a handmade quilt by Lucy Ledien went to Jane Wilhour of Stockton Springs.
The Harvest Dinner and Auction, an annual event held by the Halcyon Grange, collected high bids for donated items from local businesses including a series of eight yoga classes from The Blue Hill Center for Yoga & Wellness (the highest earning item), a pair of tickets for a Fall Foliage Tour on the Maine Eastern Railroad, a set of four mugs from Rackliffe Pottery, tickets for subs from the Blue Hill Subway, and a $50 savings bond from Bar Harbor Bank & Trust.
The money raised will benefit the restoration and preservation of the historic Halcyon Grange Hall. The building is in need of a new roof, support beams to stabilize the kitchen, major repairs to the dishwasher, minor plumbing repairs and paint. The Halcyon Grange Hall is the center of community events and Grange fundraising in North Blue Hill. For more information on the Halcyon Grange contact Flossie at 374-2468 or Doreen at 359-5594.
