OLD TOWN – Ward 1 voters this year will submit their ballots at the Old Town Elks Lodge, 37 Fourth St., instead of at the Erland Sleight Training Center on Main Street.
City Clerk Patty Brochu said the city has decided not to renovate or maintain the training center facility and has shut it down for the winter.
Voters will be asked to chose three city councilors and three school board members on Nov. 4, but neither slate is contested.
Incumbent council member David Mahan of Main Street is up for re-election, joined on the ballot by newcomer Scott Laflamme of 21 Sanford Ave. With three seats open and just two candidates, write-in candidates will have a good chance of being elected. If the write-in candidate with the most votes does not accept the seat, the council will reopen the nomination process and hold a special election to fill the vacancy.
New school board candidate Gerald Herlihy of Fourth Street and incumbents Donna Conary of Burnham Street and James Dill of Sunset Drive round out the three-vacancy school board ballot.
Other uncontested positions:
. Ward 1
Warden – Charlene O. Preble of Prentiss Street
Ward Clerk – Marie A. Richards of Druillette Street
. Ward 2
Warden – Margaret A. Manzer of Bennoch Road
Ward Clerk – vacant
. Ward 3
Janet C. Klitch of Stillwater Avenue
Clerk – Nancylee Mahan of Cedar Street
. Ward 4

Clerk – Velma M. Paradis of Bosworth Street
