EAST MILLINOCKET – A Sherman man was charged Thursday with attempting to rob a Main Street pharmacy at knife point last month, police said.
Travis Robinson, 23, was charged about 11:30 a.m. with armed robbery, Police Chief Garold “Twig” Cramp said. Maine State Police Criminal Investigation Division detectives assisted town police in the arrest because it occurred in Sherman.
Robinson, who has no criminal record, is charged with entering Davis Pharmacy, 59 Main St., about 1:40 p.m. Sept. 15, displaying a knife and demanding certain prescription drugs, Cramp said.
“I think at that point the suspect panicked,” Cramp said Thursday. “He stood there for a minute, then took off without getting anything.”
Evidence collected at the scene helped tie Robinson to the crime, Cramp said.
He declined to comment on what the forensic evidence was because the case is still being investigated. Police were collecting and searching for more evidence tying Robinson to the crime Thursday afternoon, Cramp said.
Officer Cameron McDunnah, Cramp and Millinocket police Detective John Glidden handled the investigation or assisted at the crime scene, Cramp said.
Robinson was being held Thursday afternoon at Penobscot County Jail in Bangor, a jail official said. He is due in Penobscot County Superior Court today.
