BANGOR – The Bangor Public Library will hold a candidates night on Oct. 16.

The forum for Bangor School Committee candidates will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the forum for City Council candidates will be from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m.

Michael Gleason, a retired senior master sergeant of the Maine Air National Guard, will be the moderator.

In the City Council forum, each candidate will be given three minutes for an introductory statement followed by two minutes to answer the question: What can the city do to meet current economic challenges? Questions from the audience, submitted to the moderator on index cards, will then be answered.

Each candidate will be given three minutes for a closing statement. The School Committee forum will follow the same format with the question: What direction should the Bangor school system take to prepare students to meet the current economic challenges? The forum will be broadcast on cable TV’s government public access station.

All Bangor residents are encouraged to attend. For more information, contact the library at 947-8336.
