The Penobscot Valley Ski Club’s 38th annual Ski and Snowboard Equipment Sale will be held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Bangor Parks and Recreation Building on Main Street.

Sally Burke reports that “new and used equipment, including cross-country and downhill skis, boots, poles, skiwear, helmets and snowboards will be available at affordable prices.” New England vendors will participate.

Proceeds support club programs including Learn-to-Ski, Junior Racing and the Caribou Bog Ski Race.

Kathryn Mekelburg invites the public to learn about “growing and maintaining trees and shrubs” at the St. Croix Valley International Garden Club meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Methodist church in Calais.

And, she added, new members are welcome to join the St. Croix International Quilters Guild.

That organization meets at 6:30 that evening, at the Methodist Homes Recreation Center on Palmer Street in Calais.

“Mary Ann Spearing will demonstrate how to do bias binding,” Mekelburg wrote.

The event features a barbecue, bounce house, games and much more.
