Stroud paces FA past Stearns Vose, Langley power MA by Old Town; Rockland nips MCI

MILLINOCKET – Ryan Stroud completed 5 of 11 passes for 120 yards and three touchdowns to lead Foxcroft Academy past Stearns 34-8 in high school football action Friday night.

Ian Champeon rushed for two touchdowns in the first half for the Ponies. Josiah Richards caught two scoring passes from Stroud and successfully converted four of his five extra-point kicks.

Champeon rushed 18 times for 159 yards and Richards also had an interception.

Jared McGreevy led Stearns by completing 7 of 16 passes for 133 yards. McGreevy connected with Josh MacDonald in the second quarter for a 49-yard touchdown.

Billy Eurich had 12 tackles for the Minutemen, three for a loss, and Alan Langley blocked a punt.

Foxcroft managed 277 total yards of offense while Stearns had 211 offensive yards.

Mattanawcook 50, Old Town 16

At Old Town, Brady Vose scored two first-half touchdowns, one a punt return and the other on a rush, to lead Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln past Old Town.

Freshman Tyler Langley added two fourth-quarter touchdowns for the Lynx. He returned a fumble 10 yards for a score and later ran 40 yards for another touchdown.

Mattanawcook’s Josh Pelkey and Josh Murchison had scoring runs. Grady Markie returned a blocked punt 15 yards for a third-quarter touchdown.

Josh Boucher led Old Town with two TD passes. He connected with Kyle Abbott in the first quarter on a 48-yard pass and in the fourth with Tyler Hamm on a 67-yard pass.

Seth Hopkins tackled an MA running back in the end zone in the third quarter to earn a safety.

Rockland 15, MCI 13

At Pittsfield, Nick Baudanza kicked a 22-yard field goal with 2:40 left in the fourth quarter to give Rockland a 15-7 advantage and lead the Tigers to victory.

Andrew Weiss scored on the first play of the game by running 75 yards to the end zone for Rockland. He added a fourth-quarter touchdown on a 4-yard run.

Weiss ran for 174 yards on 26 carries. He also had three receptions for 35 yards. On defense, Weiss had an interception and two fumble recoveries.

Rockland’s Dylan Meklin completed 14 of 25 passes for 202 yards.

Shawn Bennett put Maine Central Institute on the board with a 2-yard run in the second quarter. Craig Reazor brought the Huskies within two points in the fourth with a 37-yard TD run with 1:40 left.

Nick Miller rushed 14 times for 85 yards. He also recorded 15 tackles on defense.

Markus White also had 15 tackles and Tyler Maloon had an interception.

Rockland totaled 435 yards of offense, while MCI had 305.
