Third title most satisfying for Clark Hallowell driver overtook Ben Rowe in final weekend of PASS series

Johnny Clark said his third Pro All Stars Series Super Late Model North Division points championship was his most satisfying.

He annexed the title last weekend. His previous championships came in 2004 and 2006.

“It’s pretty awesome,” said the 28-year-old Hallowell resident. “This feels so much better [than the previous titles].

“I went into the last race with a deficit. We’ve been playing catch-up all year because we got off to such a horrible start. We were 60 points behind Ben [Rowe] and Travis [Benjamin] with three races to go.”

Another aspect of his title that is special to him is the fact “we won the most races [4] and led the most laps [469] by more than double.”

Nobody else won more than twice in the 14-race schedule and the closest to him in laps led was Farmington’s Cassius Clark with 219.

Johnny Clark finished with 2,593 points, 10 more than Turner’s Rowe, who took a three-point lead over him into the final race at Wiscasset Raceway last weekend.

Clark won his heat race in the Fall Brawl 150 and Rowe finished fourth to make up the three-point deficit entering the feature. Clark finished fifth in the feature, and Rowe was 10th.

Rowe was gunning for his fifth points title.

Benjamin finished third in points with 2,577.

Clark intends to run the Mason-Dixon 500 at South Boston Speedway (Va.) on Oct. 25.
