PORTLAND – Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank is coming to Maine two weeks after canceling an earlier visit so he could stay in Washington and deal with the financial industry bailout.
Frank is scheduled to be among the guests on an autumn cruise on Casco Bay on Thursday commemorating the third anniversary of the election in which Maine voters decided to keep the state’s gay rights law on the books.
The cruise is being put on by the Maine Democratic Party.
Frank, the chairman of the House Banking Committee, was scheduled to speak at the Maine Affordable Housing Conference in Portland on Sept. 29. He was forced to cancel so he could stay in Washington to work on the government’s $700 billion rescue of the financial industry.
