ORONO – Residents can learn to keep cool – or at least how to help cool down the planet – at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, during a discussion at the Town Council chamber.

“Cool Starts with You,” an instructional program for homeowners and others interested in reducing energy use, will be presented by Maine Partners for Cool Communities. The discussion will include ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and steps individuals can take to reduce their own energy usage.

Attendees are invited to bring their own information on household electricity usage and heating fuel usage for one year to calculate their own carbon footprints or impact on the environment. Free information packets will be distributed.

The evening’s host is Orono’s Cool Committee. Call the Orono Public Library at 866-5060 for more information.
