BROOKS – A local woman faces charges after she arrived home in an intoxicated state while Waldo County sheriff’s deputies were searching her house for drugs after having broken up a party.
Tina Woodard, 42, of Purple Heart Highway was charged with operating while under the influence of intoxicants, operating beyond license restriction, possession of a usable amount of marijuana, failure to submit to arrest and refusing to sign a uniform summons or complaint.
Chief Deputy Robert Keating said the department received a complaint at 7:45 p.m. Sunday about minors drinking in Woodard’s yard. When deputies arrived, they found a party in progress attended by 11 individuals. All of those present were under the legal drinking age.
Keating said that when deputies arrived they were greeted at the door by a 19-year-old man who invited them inside. The man told Sgt. James Porter and Deputies James Greeley and Kevin Littlefield that the occupant of the residence, “Tina,” was not at home.
After rounding up the partygoers, the deputies charged a 15-year-old male with illegal possession of alcohol and Jason Cowles, 19, of Belfast with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal transportation of liquor by a minor.
Having found drugs on the property, the deputies seized the dwelling and went to get a search warrant.
Woodard arrived at 10:55 p.m. while the deputies were in the process of searching her home. Keating said those attending the party who were sober were allowed to leave. The parents of two teenagers were called to pick up their children.
Detective Jason Bosco and Deputy Gerry Lincoln also assisted at the scene.
