HAMPDEN – Troop 1776 will be the hosts at a Boy Scout outing for prospective new members on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Hampden Recreational Park, off Paper Mill Road. Boys in grade six and up are invited to attend. Activities planned include a fire building competition, knot tying, team building skills and first aid.

Troop 1776 is a small troop sponsored by VFW Post 4633. A variety of activities of interest to boys is offered. The boy-led program teaches leadership.

The majority of boys who have joined Troop 1776 have stayed on and some have reached the higher ranks offered in Scouting. Troop members have earned many Eagle Scout Awards.

Boys may attend the outing with their parents for the day, or a parent and boy may spend the night if they bring camping gear and a tent.

For more information, call Scoutmaster Curt Slininger at 862-4619.
