BANGOR – Merrill Bank has announced that Edwin Clift, chairman of the bank’s board of directors, was honored on Oct. 2 at WLBZ 2’s Those Who Care event.
The 2 Those Who Care Awards recognize the power and spirit of volunteering. The program was created by WLBZ 2 and United Way of Eastern Maine to honor adults who demonstrate outstanding service to the community.
“We are very proud to have Ed on our team. He exemplifies true leadership and has instilled the importance of community service and volunteerism to the rest of our Merrill Bank employees,” said Bill Lucy, bank president and CEO.
Clift serves as chairman of the St. Joseph Healthcare Foundation board of trustees. He has held leadership positions with the St. Joseph Hospital Capital Campaign, the Multiple Handicap Center of Penobscot Valley and the University of Maine Center on Aging.
He has worked for seven years for the Maine Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. The Department of Defense agency encourages and educates employers regarding the responsibilities of men and women employees who serve as National Guard and Reservists.
Clift is a strong supporter of culture in the Bangor region, most recently taking a leadership role in the capital campaign for the Bangor Museum and History Center.
