Off-Center ‘Scrooge’ auditions set Oct. 25

DOVER-FOXCROFT – The Slightly Off-Center Players will hold auditions for “A Christmas Carol: Scrooge and Marley” at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Center Theatre.

All roles are open and all levels of experience and ages are welcome. The community theater group also is looking for small vocal groups interested in lending their talents to the production.

This will be the third year that the Slightly Off-Center Players community theater presents this classic Christmas story. However, this year it chose a script by Israel Horowitz, which puts more focus on Jacob Marley, who returns in this version as the narrator.

“This is a story that has been told and retold,” Rhonda Kirkpatrick, the community theater’s artistic director said this week. “This was a good opportunity to bring a new perspective to the performance and give the audience and the actors something fresh and exciting.”

Rehearsals for this production start Nov. 1 with evening performances scheduled for Dec. 11, 12, 13, 18 and 19, and a matinee on Dec. 17.

The auditions require no preparation, though perusal scripts are available for review at the Center Theatre. If you are unable to make the audition time, contact Kirkpatrick at 564-6905 to arrange an alternative audition time.

For information, please contact the Center Theatre at 564-8943 or visit CenterTheatre.org.
