Heather wants to be a nurse

Meet Heather, who was born in 1991. Heather is a charming teenager who loves children of all ages. She is polite, easy to talk to and has made a lot of progress in the past few years.

Heather is like many teenagers. Her favorite part about school is hanging out with her friends at lunch and in between classes. She likes to shop and talk on the phone. Heather maintains a part-time job.

When asked about a place she would like to visit, Heather said she’d like to travel to Africa. She wasn’t sure why, but she just thought “It would be cool!” Heather wants to go to college and enroll in a nursing program. Perhaps she will travel to Africa as a visiting nurse.

An adoption subsidy may be available for the most appropriate family. Heather is one of 147 children in Maine Department of Health and Human Services care who is seeking an adoptive family. Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.

For information about foster or adoptive parenting or children available for adoption, contact A Family for ME toll free at 877-505-0545 or visit www.afamilyforme.org and see photographs of children awaiting a “forever family.”
