Pine Tree Hospice receives $2,500 grant

DOVER-FOXCROFT – In honor of the Maine Community Foundation’s 25th anniversary, the Piscataquis County Committee has made a $2,500 grant to Pine Tree Hospice. The grant will be presented at a ceremony at 5 p.m. Nov. 11 during Pine Tree Hospice’s annual meeting at Abel Blood’s in Dover-Foxcroft.

Members of the Piscataquis County Committee recommended the grant based on the Pine Tree Hospice’s ability to collaborate with local agencies to build off their combined assets to strengthen the community.

“Since its inception in 1985, Pine Tree Hospice has served hundreds of clients and their families with end-of-life care and grief counseling,” said Benny Lumbra, the Piscataquis County Committee chairman. “We have been impressed with the organization’s ability to deliver these services to clients free of charge with no federal or state funding.”

The committee recognized four other nonprofits in the county: Center Theatre, Penquis Higher Education Center, Piscataquis County Economic Development Council, and Womancare Aegis.

A statewide organization with offices in Augusta, Ellsworth and Portland, the Maine Community Foundation has been partnering with donors and nonprofits to strengthen Maine communities for 25 years. For more information, visit www.mainecf.org or call 877-700-6800.
