PORTLAND – Portland police have identified the sleeping homeless man who was crushed to death Wednesday by a front-end loader at a Portland Public Services building.

The victim was identified as 56-year-old Donald Trombley.

Police say they’ve been unable to find any of Trombley’s next of kin since his death Wednesday morning.

Officials say Trombley suffered from mental illness and frequented Portland’s local service providers.
