STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Alex Rickett scored two goals, including the game-winner on a breakaway with 3:53 remaining in the game, to lift the University of Maine to a 2-1 America East men’s soccer victory over Stony Brook on Sunday.

Justin Facer tallied the assist on Rickett’s first goal. Nemanja Kostic stopped five of 16 shots for the 4-7-2 Black Bears.

James Palumbo netted the goal for Stony Brook early in the second half. David Ditrich made five saves on 12 shots for the 2-11-2 Seawolves.

Husson 2, MMA 1 (OT)

At Bangor, Tyler Metevier scored the winner off a Josh Labonte assist 3:45 into overtime Saturday to give Husson University the win over Maine Maritime Academy of Castine.

Metevier also scored Husson’s first goal off a corner kick 19:41 into the second half. Brad Ala turned away three of seven shots for the 8-6 Eagles.

Nate Tipton tied it off a Greg Smith assist 35:44 into the second for the 4-8-1 Mariners. Jeff Butland made 13 saves on 36 shots.

UM-Farmington 6, Thomas 4

At Waterville, James Tolleffson had a hat trick Saturday as the University of Maine-Farmington beat Thomas College.

Andrew Harner, Patrick Martin and Ethan Jean also scored for UM-Farmington. Matt Dennett saved four of 20 shots.

Tom Costa led Thomas with two goals. Jim Grant added a goal and two assists and Scott Pullen also scored. Keegan Curtin made four saves off 17 shots.

E. Connecticut 4, So. Maine 3

At Willimantic, Conn., Nicholas Boretti scored two goals Saturday as Eastern Connecticut State held off the University of Southern Maine.

Matt Esposito broke the 2-2 tie 15:25 into the second half with assists from Scott Mishley and Mike Vekakis for 11-1-3 Eastern Connecticut. Maxim Fantl added a goal. Carl Appel saved two of six shots.

Greg Cox, Peter McHugh and Derek Peters scored for 9-6-1 Southern Maine of Gorham. David Kreps turned away four of 13 shots.

Saint Joseph’s wins two games

At Standish, the Monks allowed only one goal over the weekend in earning two wins. Saint Joseph’s beat Johnson and Wales 2-1 Saturday, then shut out Suffolk 2-0 on Sunday.

On Saturday, Doug MacCallum scored the winner 11:03 into the second half off a Michael Sanfilippo assist.

Kevin Melega scored the first goal with an assist from MacCallum at 14:38 in the first for 8-4-3 Saint Joseph’s. Will Pike had four saves on nine shots.

Scott Kirchner scored an unassisted goal at 19:30 in the first to tie it at 1-1 for Johnson and Wales. Joe Ferraro stopped one of eight shots.

On Sunday, Nicholas Campasano and Lane Hubacz each tallied a goal as the Monks shut out Suffolk University.

Timothy Davison and Paul Robins each grabbed an assist. Pike made two saves on 10 shots for the 8-4-3 winners.

Alex Capousis stopped seven of 17 shots for 4-8 Suffolk.

UMaine-Fort Kent wins twice

The University of Maine-Fort Kent improved to 14-0 over the weekend, shutting out SUNY-Canton 7-0 Saturday before drubbing Paul Smiths College 11-1 Sunday.

On Saturday at Canton, N.Y., seven different players scored goals as the Bengals earned the shutout of SUNY-Canton.

Walford Stewart scored a goal and assisted two others to lead the 14-0 Bengals. Keith Williams II had a goal and an assist. Andre Anderson, Jarryd Phillips, Emlyn Jacoby, Henley Comrie and Andre Gervais also scored. Giovanni Sinclair turned away two of five shots to earn the shutout.

Eamon Case made seven saves off 22 shots for the 7-6-2 Roos.

On Sunday at Paul Smith, N.Y., Anderson scored three goals and had two assists as UMFK rolled past Paul Smith’s College.

Williams II and Luka Odak scored two goals apiece while Jacoby, Stewart and Josh Nichols each added a goal. Phillips, Williams, Jacoby and Stewart each grabbed an assist. Sinclair blocked five of six shots for the Bengals.

Ben Marshall made 20 saves on 30 shots for Paul Smith’s.

UMPI 2, SUNY Canton 1 (2OT)

At Canton, N.Y., Joshua Peaslee scored the winning goal off a Corey Fournier assist 1:03 into the second overtime Sunday to give the University of Maine-Presque Isle the win over State University of New York at Canton.

Devon Peaslee scored UMPI’s first goal with an assist from Tony Hibbard in the second half. Richard Felbaum turned away four of 12 shots for the 10-4-1 Wildcats.

Moubarak Agoro tied it off a Nick Leboeuf assist with 1:37 remaining in regulation for the 7-7-2 Roos. Eamon Case saved two of 10 shots.

Maine 2, Boston University 1

At Cambridge, Mass., the University of Maine scored two early second-half goals to defeat Boston University Saturday.

Kelly Newton scored off a Stephanie Gardiner assist 1:56 into the second half for the 4-9 Black Bears. Nicole Emery added an insurance goal with an assist from Maire Dineen less than a minute later. Brittany Flech stopped six of 20 shots.

Giovanna Monaco brought Boston University within a goal off a Nikki Lloyd assist. Kim Kastuk saved one of four shots.

Husson earns two victories

Husson College of Bangor had a productive weekend, beating the University of Maine-Farmington 4-0 Saturday and edging Framingham State 4-3 in overtime on Sunday.

At Bangor on Saturday, Erica Dorso scored a goal and assisted two others as the Eagles shut down the Beavers.

Sarah Hessert, Courtney Allen and Krystal Doughty added goals for the 5-7 Eagles, who scored all their goals in the second half. Jillian Morin provided two assists. Kara Voisine stopped four of seven shots.

Kaeleigh Barker made nine saves on 19 shots for 7-6 UM-Farmington.

At Framingham, Mass., on Sunday, Courtney Allen scored the game-winning goal 2:28 into overtime to lift Husson past Framingham State.

Dorso netted two goals and grabbed the assist on the game-winner for Husson while Doughty added a goal. Caroline Bochtler stopped nine of 14 shots.

Allesha Kenyon and Stephanie Bourgeois combined to make 19 saves on 25 shots for 8-5 Framingham State.

Thomas drops two contests

Thomas College of Waterville dropped two games on the weekend, losing 7-0 Saturday at Castleton State before falling 8-2 Sunday to Plymouth State.

At Castleton, Vt., on Saturday, Kayla Blank scored three second-half goals as Castleton State College shut out Thomas.

Marie Amaral added two goals for 10-6 Castleton. Carolyn Griggs had a goal and two assists and Trishia Fellows scored. Trisha Clark made one save off three shots.

Megan Denby saved 10 of 24 shots for the Terriers.

At Plymouth, N.H., on Sunday, Sarah Smith scored two goals as Plymouth State defeated Thomas.

Ashley Gutowski had a goal and two assists for 7-6 Plymouth State. Kristina Conroy, Morgan Lemmon, Christina Parisi, Courtney McLaughlin and Kerry D’Ambroise added goals. Elyse Sedgley have five saves off nine shots.

Christina Allaire and Kristin Masessa scored unassisted goals for the 3-11 Terriers. Denby saved 12 of 29 shots.

UMass Dartmouth 4, USM 0

At North Dartmouth, Mass., Stephanie Kinchla scored two unassisted first-half goals to lead the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth past the University of Southern Maine Saturday.

Rebecca Stephens and Kellie Finn added second-half goals for the 10-5 Consairs. Seana Golden turned away all seven shots.

Allison Hill stopped eight of 18 shots for the 7-8 Huskies.

Maine 11, Sacred Heart 1

At Orono, Jennie Gallo scored three goals and tallied two assists as Maine cruised past Sacred Heart on Saturday.

Melissa Gagnon, Myriam Croussette, Amy Stech, Danielle Cyr, Dominique Goutsis, Jenna Ouellette, Dawn Sullivan and Abby Barton each added a goal for 2-4 Maine. Candice Currier made 13 saves on 14 shots for the Black Bears.

Amanda Nagel blocked 46 of 57 shots for 1-2 Sacred Heart.

Husson splits two games

At Boucher Field in Bangor, Husson College split weekend games, shutting out Maine Maritime Academy of Castine 8-0 on Saturday before dropping a 1-0 decision to Bowdoin College of Brunswick on Sunday.

On Saturday, Megan LaJoie tied a school record by scoring five goals to power Husson.

Shelby Bradford scored a goal and grabbed three assists while Caitlyn Butterfield and Megan Clement each added a goal. Tatyana Wolterbeek stopped the only shot she faced for the 11-4 Eagles.

Lacey Jackson made 11 saves on 35 shots for the 4-9-2 Mariners.

On Sunday, Ellery Gould scored the only goal of the game with just under 20 minutes to play to lift Bowdoin.

Kelly Thomas posted five saves on 15 shots for the 6-2-3 Polar Bears.

Wolterbeek stopped nine of 21 shots for the Eagles.

Maine 1, Vermont 1 (2OT)

At Orono on Sunday, Eliza Bradley made eight saves in the second half and overtime combined to help Vermont hold on for a double-overtime tie against Maine.

Bradley finished with 11 saves on 25 shots for the Catamounts. Carson Laderoute scored the tying goal in the second half for 3-12-1 Vermont.

Carolyne Nellis tallied the goal for Maine on an assist from Kelsey Wilson. Jasmine Phillips made three saves on seven shots for the 5-4-6 Black Bears.

UM-Farmington 2, Thomas 0

At Waterville, Amber Murphy scored a goal in the first half on an assist from Heidi Jackson as the University of Maine-Farmington shut out Thomas on Saturday.

The Beavers also benefited from an own goal by Thomas in the second half. McKell Barnes and Crystal Johnson combined for one save for UMF.

Jess Nassetta and Lindsay Gove combined for 13 saves for the Terriers.

SUNY-Canton 3, UMFK 0

At Canton, N.Y., Justine Monahan scored a goal and posted two assists Saturday to lead SUNY-Canton by the University of Maine-Fort Kent.

Aubrey Parrish made two saves on four shots for 10-0-1 SUNY-Canton.

Kayla Daigle stopped two of 11 shots for the 7-2 Bengals.
