Republican

Debra D. Plowman

Hometown: Hampden

Education: Graduated St. Dominic Regional High School; University of Southern Maine, political science

Family: Married 25 years to David Plowman; three children

Occupation: Sales, human resources

Experience: Served in the House of Representatives 1992-2000; sat out two terms; elected to state Senate in 2004 and 2006

Reason for running: I am running for re-election in order to improve Maine’s business climate. We desperately need to make this an investmentworthy environment. Maine’s policies have the net effect of driving employers away or out of business. Good jobs will help not only Mainers’ budgets but the state of Maine’s as well.

Democrat

Wanda Beland

Age: 59

Hometown: Newport

Address: 39 Pine St.

Education: Some college

Family: Married; two children

Occupation: Retired

Experience: No prior office held

Reason for running: I want to help people, listen to their problems and answer if I can. I want to get more business in northern Maine and make more jobs available. Roads need repairing, health insurance problems, protect the environment. Look into why so many house fires. I want to do everything I can to improve Maine’s economy.
