Auction to benefit discovery museum

BANGOR – Maine Discovery Museum will hold its annual benefit auction “Save Me a Seat!” on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Spectacular Event Center on Griffin Road. The silent auction and preview of all auction items will begin at 5 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 and the live auction at 8. Kara Matuszewski and Chris Facchini of WLBZ News Center 2 will serve as guest auctioneers.

“Save Me a Seat!” is the museum’s sixth annual dinner-auction and its most important fundraising event. The auction will feature 74 artists and 76 chairs – 30 Adirondacks (child), 27 rockers (child), and 19 artist-supplied chairs (child and adult sizes). Artists include Kristborg Whitney of Bangor, John Hassett of Waldoboro, Rebecca Rivers of Searsport and many more. Those interested may view the chairs online and learn about the contributing artists at www.mainediscoverymuseum.org.

Tickets for the event are $45 per person and can be purchased online or by contacting the museum. Absentee bids will be accepted. For more information, contact Jennifer Chiarell, marketing director, at 262-7200.
