BANGOR – Challenger Learning Center of Maine will continue its first Tuesday of the month home-schooler science workshops with the following classes:
Nov. 4 – Astronaut Life: includes instruction on how astronauts use robotics and the opportunity to make a simple robotic arm and use a glove box.
Dec. 2 – Circuitry: Participants design their own games using simple circuits.
Jan. 6 – Magnetism: Participants learn how magnets work and how they affect the Earth.
Feb. 3 – Special event: Children grades four and up (grade three with an adult) act as mission controllers and astronauts in the center’s new mission simulation.
All programs run 9-11 a.m., are led by certified teachers, and are appropriate from grades three through eight. Children in kindergarten through grade two may participate if accompanied by an adult, though registration is greatly encouraged in this instance.
Each class, including the Feb. 3 event, costs $18, $15 if parents register. Sibling discounts are available. For more information or to register, call 990-2900, ext. 3.
