A pregnant woman was driving toward Bangor on North Main Street in Brewer at about 7:45 a.m. Monday when she crashed into the back end of a car in a line of stopped vehicles, according to Brewer police.
Officer Adam Towers said three vehicles pulled up and stopped behind a pickup truck that had stopped and was waiting to turn. The woman, who reportedly is 30 weeks pregnant, failed to stop and drove into the fourth car in the line, Towers said.
That car bumped into the one in front of it, which bumped into the one in front of it and so on, causing minor damage to the front four vehicles, the officer said. The woman’s car had significant front-end damage and the air bag deployed, Towers said.
He did not immediately get her name, but said she was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for complaints of chest pains, apparently from the air bag, he said. Towers expected to get more information about the woman and her condition later, but he could not be reached late Monday afternoon. Cpl. Levi Sewall said Towers was called away early and his report on the accident would not be finished until today. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
