Reason for running: I am running to continue working to: instill fiscal responsibility in state government by setting thoughtful spending priorities and reining in taxes to encourage job growth; lower health insurance and energy costs; and strengthen education. I also feel a special responsibility to continue working to change the dynamics that have caused Down East Maine to lag behind economically for generations.

Age: 66
Hometown: Machias
Address: 654 Kennebec Road
Education: BS, MS and CAS in education
Family: Married, no children
Occupation: Retired teacher
Experience: I’ve been an educator for 45 years, mostly
in rural Maine.
Reason for running: I believe Washington County is about to become a leader in the alternative energy revolution. At the state level we will need to pave the way for responsible development of our considerable energy resources and make sure that our people in Washington County reap the full benefit of this economic development.

Dana Kadey
Age: 64
Hometown: Princeton
Address: 376 West St.
Education: M.Ed.
Family: One son
Occupation: Self-employed
Reason for running: I believe Maine needs to take a new direction. The old way of passing legislation, creating more bureaucracy and raising taxes is not working. The “safety net” has become a net of entrapment. We need to inspire and empower the individual to take control of his-her life. We need to reduce the tax burden on Maine’s citizens. We need to rein in the scope of Maine’s government.
