CHARLOTTE – The St. Croix Valley Amateur Radio Club is sponsoring an entry-level course in ham radio beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Charlotte Fire Station on Route 214.
Those who attend the first class will decide, between themselves and their instructor, the scheduling of the next five classes.
The course prepares participants to pass the 35-question Federal Communications Commission license exam. Passing this exam allows the use of amateur frequencies in the UHF, VHF and 10-meter HF phone band. The class is open to young people and old alike.
The fee for the course is $25 and covers the cost of the ARRL Ham Radio License Manual and other materials. There will be a review and an FCC licensing exam at the end of the course, for those who want to take the test. The FCC fee is $14 for the exam.
