BREWER – Food AND Medicine, an Eastern Maine Labor Council group, will hold a haunted house and harvest festival 5-8 p.m. Saturday that is designed to entertain and educate.
The “Maniac McSams Mansions of Mutation” tours will walk participants through several “mansions” unveiling different scary aspects about the coming national election, Will Rice, publicity director and creator of the interactive production, said Tuesday.
“It’s all about a maverick from the Southwest who transforms to a recent prominent Texas politician,” he said.
The different mansions include the “worker rights reducing ranch” and the “conservative conforming cone” and others designed to educate participants about political issues that affect workers, Rice said.
All looks bleak until the end of the tour where “they’re saved by the force of positive change,” he said.
The haunted house, set up at the Labor Council’s Solidarity Center at 20 Ivers St., also will feature a Harvest Festival with cider, cookies, conversation and live music along with a presentation by The humble Farmer, radio personality Robert Skoglund.
The tours are free and open to the public. To reserve a tour slot, or for more information, call Food AND Medicine at 989-5860.
