Estabrook lifts Hodgdon girls to OT victory

HODGDON – Kariann Estabrook scored the winning goal with about 40 seconds left in the second overtime to lift Hodgdon over Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics 4-3 in schoolgirl soccer action Tuesday.

Katie Duff, Taylor Hovey and Dayna Tidd also scored for the 6-7-1 Hawks. Emmaly Jurson stopped 12 of 35 shots.

Kellie Peers had a hat trick to lead the 6-8 Eagles. Caitlin Good made 18 saves off 40 shots.

Vinalhaven 4, Highview Chr. 0

At Charleston, Chelsea Guptil scored two goals to propel the Vikings to victory.

Natalie Reed and Blake Reidy tallied one goal each for Vinalhaven. Alex Slivinsky made three saves on five shots.

Anita Allard grabbed 21 saves on 31 shots for Highview Christian Academy.

Hampden 3, Lawrence 2

At Fairfield, Ashley Robinson scored the game-winning goal with 7 minutes left in the game to lead Hampden Academy past the Lawrence Bulldogs.

Michaela Stephenson scored two goals and Kate Chambers had two assists for the 10-4 Broncos. Julia Snyder made 15 saves on 17 shots.

For the 7-6-1 Bulldogs, Natasha Morris scored both goals unassisted. Jess Poulin made 10 saves on 13 shots.

Messalonskee 6, Brewer 3

At Oakland, six different players scored goals as Messalonskee beat Brewer.

Amanda Simpson, Ariana Perry, Alison Omsberg, Hannah Jalette, Laurel Finlayson and Katie Grenier scored for 5-8-1 Messalonskee. Sarah Jacques saved 12 of 15 shots.

Katie McLaughlin scored two goals for the 1-13 Witches. Melanie Judkins added a goal and Sheri Valley provided two assists. Judkins, Hannah Simmons and Colleen Gilley combined for 11 saves on 17 shots.

Class A

Cony 3, Edward Little 1

At Augusta, Stephanie Hinds erased a 1-0 halftime deficit as she scored three second-half goals to lead No. 4 Cony past No. 5 Edward Little of Auburn.

Brittany Ford recorded three assists for the 12-3 Rams and Jessica Brox added an assist. Felisha Taylor made eight saves off 11 shots.

Emily Ranucci scored an unassisted goal in the first half for 8-5-2 Edward Little. Kayla Cummings stopped 10 of 16 shots.

Class B

Belfast 3, Old Town 0

At Belfast, Sami Bark scored 7:49 into the first half off an Ori Downs assist as No. 4 Belfast shut out No. 5 Old Town.

Crystle Kirby added a goal with 8:22 remaining in the first off a Danielle Littlefield assist. Downs scored the third goal early in the second half for the 10-5 Lions. Paxton Mohney stopped all seven shots. Emma Hamm didn’t face a shot.

Heather Nye and Danyle Boobar combined to save 10 of 13 shots for 7-7-1 Old Town.

Class C

Central 2, Winthrop 0

At Winthrop, Rachel Trafton and Samantha Blanchard netted a goal apiece as No. 5 Central of Corinth upended fourth-ranked Winthrop.

Logan Wilson and Kayla Grindle tallied assists while Brittany Cote turned aside all 14 shots for the 8-7 Red Devils.

Emily Vickerson and Katie Michelsen teamed up for 14 saves on 16 shots for 9-6 Winthrop.

Boys soccer

Machias 1, Calais 0

At Machias, Matt Little scored off a Jacob Dahl corner kick with nine minutes left in regulation to lead Machias past Calais to win the Downeast Athletic Conference championship.

Michael Jenkins saved 11 of 16 shots for Machias.

Jordan Leeman turned away 6 of 11 shots for Calais.

Mt. Blue 9, Nokomis 1

At Newport, Sam Mungin and Travis Robinson scored two goals each as Mt. Blue of Farmington beat Nokomis.

Ben Russell scored a goal and provided an assist for the 9-4-1 Cougars. Zac Conolog, Blake Hart, Alex Lee and Peter Roberts scored. Devin Zamboni and Jordan Schanck combined for four saves off 12 shots.

Elijah Davis scored in the first half off a Chris Braley assist for 0-14 Nokomis. Justin Amoroso and Tom Batchelder combined for 12 saves on 28 shots.

Messalonskee 2, Brewer 1

At Brewer, Cameron Omsberg scored the winner with 17:03 left in the second half to lead Messalonskee of Oakland to victory over Brewer.

Omsberg also scored 9-3-2 Messalonskee’s other goal in the first half. Andrew Wilson saved five of nine shots.

Luke Thomas scored with 23:10 left in the first off a Brad Billings assist for 5-7-2 Brewer. Brian Kearns made nine saves of 15 shots.

Hampden 3, Lawrence 1

At Hampden, Kevin Angelinetta scored a goal and assisted another as Hampden Academy defeated Lawrence of Fairfield during senior night.

Ricardo Delima and Matt Toothaker added goals for the 8-4-2 Broncos. Brad Dolan and Gerald Cushing recorded assists. Brad Melanson stopped two of four shots.

Chris Low scored late in the first half off a Kyle Rabe assist for 3-11 Lawrence. Codey Sabian turned away 12 of 36 shots.
