CANDIDATE PROFILE

Senate District 25

Pittsfield-Waterville area

Democrat

Lisa T. Marrache

Age: 40

Hometown: Waterville

Education: BS in chemistry, Columbus State University; MD, Medical College of Georgia

Family: Married; two children

Occupation: Self-employed family physician

Experience: One year Waterville City Council; three-term state representative; one-term state senator; chairwoman of two commissions on health care

Reason for running: I have a strong commitment to work on improving the lives of my fellow Mainers. I have worked to improve the economy in my district by bringing in historic tax credits worth $6 million to rebuild our downtown mills. I also have worked tirelessly to increase access to health care. My time in Augusta has been spent working with both sides of the aisle to bring about bipartisan support for improvements in the business climate while sustaining environmental protection efforts.

Republican

Brent E. Hutchins

Age: 54

Hometown: Albion

Address: P.O. Box 126, Albion 04910

Education: BS in education from University of Maine at Machias

Family: Married to Martha; three children; three grandchildren

Occupation: Marden’s Inc., 1978 to present

Reason for running: It’s time for change in Augusta. We need leaders ready to lower taxes, create jobs and reduce energy costs. My late father-in-law, Mickey Marden, once said, “If you have the ability to make things better, you have a responsibility to make things better.” Making our state a better place to live, work and raise a family is my highest priority.
