ORONO – The registrar of voters office will be open from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 28-31 in the Orono Town Office for registering and enrolling new voters and to correct the list for Election Day.
On Tuesday, Nov. 4, registration of voters will take place at all voting precincts from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., which coincides with voting hours.
The polling sites are the Birch Street School Senior Center for Ward 1, Precinct 1; University of Maine Memorial Union’s All Purpose Room for Ward 1, Precinct 2; Orono council chambers for Ward 1, Precinct 3 and Ward 2.
Town Manager Cathy Conlow said the clerk’s office would handle only election business that day due to the time staffers must spend on the election. It’s hard for the town to get a handle on the number of people who will vote in a given year, because of the transient nature of the town’s population in light of the presence of the University of Maine.
