Big School (Classes A-B)

BEN CHAPMAN

A junior on the Ellsworth cross country team, Chapman won the individual title at the Penobscot Valley Conference championships. He was timed in 16 minutes, 38.6 seconds over 3.03 miles in helping the Eagles to a runner-up finish in the team competition.

Small School (Classes C-D)

BLAKE FORD

A senior fullback on the Calais-Woodland football team, Ford rushed for 279 yards and four touchdowns on just 11 carries as the Silverados pulled away in the second half for a 48-14 win over Dexter. Ford scored on runs of 60, 57, 59 and 13 yards, and also rushed for four, two-point conversions to score 32 points on the day.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

BRIANNE DUNN

Ellsworth High sophomore runner Brianne Dunn ran to the individual crown at the Penobscot Valley Conference championship meet over the weekend. Dunn clocked a 19:31.4 over 3.03 miles, pulling away from the pack in the last mile.

Small School (Classes C-D)

COURTNEY HILL

Calais High soccer player Courtney Hill scored two goals as the Blue Devils concluded their regular season with a victory over Narraguagus of Harrington. Hill also assisted on four goals as Calais earned a 9-3 triumph and goes into the Class C playoffs as the No. 6 seed.
