County authorities seek help solving recent burglary spree

HOULTON – Investigators stationed at the State Police barracks in Houlton have spent the past few weeks trying to track down the people responsible for a burglary spree in Aroostook County that has stretched from Crystal to New Canada.

Sgt. David McPherson said Wednesday that the burglaries have occurred over the past few weeks, and that the perpetrators have been targeting town offices and other businesses.

McPherson said those responsible for the crimes have gained entry into the buildings through rear windows and have attempted to steal cash.

Town offices in Crystal and New Canada were targeted, according to police. The bulk of the crimes have taken place in Caribou and surrounding towns.

Police are continuing their investigation and are encouraging business owners to remove any money from their buildings at night.

There are some leads, according to investigators. Trooper Daniel Deschaine is leading the investigation.

Anyone with information on these crimes or other crimes is encouraged to call the State Police or their local law enforcement agency.
