The Salvation Army boasts a new location for its annual Harvest Auction, reports Mary MacKay.

The Army’s annual fundraiser is 1-5 p.m. and then 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at its warehouse, 585 Broadway in Bangor.

Admission is free and, if you are able to donate an item for the auction or want more information, call 941-2990.

Guests may preview the auction beginning at 11 a.m., that day, where you will find “a wide array of items” donated by area businesses, MacKay wrote of auction items ranging from gift certificates to furniture and flooring.

The Maine Council of Telephone Pioneers are volunteers who are current or retired employees of the telephone industry, explained Cindy Black.

That group is hosting its annual Craft Fair, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the FairPoint Garage, 645 Odlin Road, Bangor.

Proceeds, Black reports, “will be divided between the Whiting Food Pantry and Sunny Corner Fuels Assistance.”

Admission is free; more than 50 crafters will participate; it offers a minifood court and “something for everyone.”

Wendie Lagassee invites you to the Glenburn Evangelical Covenant Church Harvest Fair, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the church, 911 Hudson Road, Route 221, in Glenburn.

Food from Grandma’s kitchen and pantry; articles from her attic; books, crafts, and a raffle for heating oil, a gas card or a grocery gift card and a silent auction for an afghan and quilt are featured.

Lunch of fish chowder or chili, with biscuit or cornbread, will be available at the Covenant Cafe from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Proceeds, Lagasse said, “benefit our youth ministry program.”

Center Theatre for the Performing Arts executive director Patrick Myers reports The Slightly Off-Center Players are conducting auditions for “A Christmas Carol: Scrooge and Marley,” by Israel Horowitz, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Center Theatre in Dover-Foxcroft.

“All roles are open, and all levels of experience and ages are welcome,” Myers wrote of the group which “is also looking for small, vocal groups interested in lending their talents to the production.”

Rehearsals begin Nov. 1 and performances on Dec. 11.

The unique music of Tree by Leaf is featured in a Benefit Concert for “hunger-relief efforts in Waldo County” reports Jayne Sullivan of this event beginning at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Unity Centre for the Performing Arts on Depot Street.

Admission is $10. Tickets are available at the door or at www.unitymaine.org. Guests are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to the concert.

Part of the second annual Arts for Hunger sponsored by the Unity Area Rotary Club, the group features Garrett Soucy, Cliff Young, Siiri Soucy and Eric Sanders.

A month-long art sale is also part of this fundraiser. All proceeds, from both events, benefit the Volunteer Regional Food Pantry, People for People and Open Door, Sullivan wrote.

All women who had annual mammograms this year or last at Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast, can register for a drawing to win a “Pamper Yourself” gift basket, and everyone is encouraged to participate in the annual WCGH Oncology Walk on Sunday, Oct. 26.

Nicole Heanssler reports the drawing is in honor of October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and that the winner will be drawn Monday, Nov. 3.
