BANGOR – Penobscot Theatre Company will host a community candidate forum Wednesday in conjunction with its production of the 1946 Pulitzer Prize-winning play “State of The Union.”
Organized with the assistance of local people and supported by the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce and Fusion:Bangor, the forum is a nonpartisan event designed to inform the public about the candidates in the House and Senate races in Bangor and Brewer.
Candidates will be at the Bangor Opera House, 131 Main St., from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29.
Each will face off, answering a set of questions about key issues posed by moderator Mark Kelley of New England School of Communications. Each will conclude with a closing statement.
House races in Districts 15, 16, 17, 18, 20 and 21 are included. The Senate seats are District 31 and 32. These races represent the two largest communities in the region, Bangor and Brewer. All candidates on the ballot have been invited.
The forum will be broadcast live on WHSN-FM 89.3 and streamed online at www.whsn-fm.com.
The forum is free and open to the public. Seats may be reserved by calling the Penobscot Theatre box office at 942-3333.
As part of Penobscot Theatre’s activities surrounding the Oct. 22-Nov. 2 performances of “State of the Union,” the theater is engaging in a number of community activities designed to increase voter registration, turnout and education.
