ROCKWOOD – Historic Pittston Farm is “going green” by using wind and solar power to decrease the use of fossil fuel emissions at the year-round resort.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the project will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the resort, formerly the home of Great Northern Paper company’s Pittston Farm Woodlands Operation.
The farm has two 10-kilowatt wind generators on tilt-up guyed towers 100 feet tall, 60 solar panels, 80 L16 batteries, and four outback inverters, which are expected to produce 35 kilowatts of electricity. Financing the project was Machias Savings Bank.
