BANGOR – A former Capehart man was indicted Monday by the Penobscot County grand jury for allegedly sexually molesting five children, showing them pornography and secretly videotaping their encounters.

Nathan D. Roy, 30, of Bangor was charged with five counts of unlawful sexual contact, gross sexual assault; the sexual exploitation of a minor; three counts of visual sexual aggression against a child; possession of sexually explicit materials; and sexual misconduct with a child.

The victims include four boys and one girl, Michael Roberts, deputy district attorney for Penobscot County, said Monday. All but one of the victims was under age 12 at the time of the alleged molestation. Two of them allegedly were abused repeatedly, Roberts said, but the others appeared to have been victimized in single incidents.

The alleged molestation of at least one victim dates to spring 2005, according to Roberts. The other incidents allegedly happened in the winter and early spring months of this year.

One of the victims went to the police, the prosecutor said. Allegations about other victims came to light after Roy’s home was searched.

Roy, who is not in custody, is scheduled to be arraigned Friday, Nov. 21, in Penobscot County Superior Court.

If convicted, he faces up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000 on the unlawful sexual contact and gross sexual contact charges alone.
