Corinth-Kenduskeag area
Republican
Christian D. Greeley
Age: 46
Hometown: Levant
Address: P.O. Box 353, Levant 04456
Web site: www.greeleyconsulting.com
Education: Graduated from Bangor High School, attended Husson College and graduated from Eastern Maine Community College with a degree in business management. Also a graduate of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.
Family: Married; three children
Occupation: Owner of Chris Greeley Training & Consulting; also employed by the town of Holden.
Experience: I’m in my sixth year (third term) proudly representing Corinth, Glenburn, Kenduskeag and Levant in the Maine Legislature. Currently an honorary major in the U.S. Air Force Civil Air Patrol; former member of the Greater Bangor Area Chamber of Commerce and Brewer Kiwanis; former police detective corporal for the city of Brewer; current small-business owner; former member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, and lifelong Bangor area resident.
Reason for running: My roots in Maine trace back to the 1800s. And while I love my state, I also recognize that something needs to be done about the high cost of heating oil and gasoline, taxes, jobs, the challenges of running a small business, and making health care affordable. If I’m allowed to continue serving (in 2009), these will be my priorities.
Democrat
Ben Lamborn
Age: 46
Hometown: Levant
Address: 726 Horseback Road
Education: Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Temple University, Philadelphia; Juris Doctorate from Temple University School of Law, Philadelphia
Family: Married to Sarah; one daughter
Occupation: Retired from my law practice in 2000 and became a stay-at-home dad and have been devoting my time to renovating the old McLaughlin farmhouse we moved into in 2001. I volunteer at the Levant Heritage Library every Wednesday evening.
Experience: Aside from my political science-American government education and law degree, I was on the budget committee of the town of Levant from 2002 until 2007 and have been active in the Democratic Party since 2004.
Reason for running: During at least the last four of the six years Mr. Chris Greeley has been the representative for District 22, he has had an attendance record for voting … of about 70 percent. It was 68 percent for 2004-2006 and now it’s 73.4 percent. … We elect a representative to be our advocate on matters that, directly or indirectly, affect every one of us. Without that representation, we have no voice in the State House.
