Cushing-Warren area

Republican

Wesley E. Richardson

Age: 65

Hometown: Warren

Address: 893 North Pond Road

Education: Graduate of Northeastern University

Family: Two sons

Occupation: Retired president of Waldoboro Bank, FSB.; real estate investor

Experience: Two-term state representative; ranking member of Insurance and Financial Services Committee, member of Marine Resources Committee; former SAD 40 school board member; former member of Knox County Budget Committee, former board member and treasurer of Tanglewood 4-H Camp.

Reason for running: I am running for a third term in hopes that I can continue my fight to rein in spending and increase the efficiency of state government. As an education advocate, tax fighter and small-business supporter, I have worked hard to represent the citizens of my district. I would consider it an honor to continue to do so.

Democrat

Bob Baker

Age: 68

Hometown: Cushing

Address: 104 McCarter Point Road

Web site: http://web.mac.com/baker99

Education: B.A. in philosophy; M.Div. in theology; Ed.D., Future Studies in Education

Family: Married; one son

Occupation: Retired teacher; currently teaching part time at University Colleges in Rockland and Bath

Experience: Teacher, preschool through graduate; educational administrator, 25 years; consultant; volunteer: City – Foundations of Planning, Pen Bay Hospital

Reason for running: I was honored to be asked to run for the seat as a Democrat. After much discussion with people active in the Democratic Party, active state politicians, and, most notably, my wife, it seemed to me a special opportunity for me to give back to the community. Since as a teacher I have been a critic of government, it was also a chance for me to try to improve the way we govern.
