The Sunshine Club for Children Holiday Market “is a one-day show, only,” wrote show chairperson Peggy Kaufman of Dexter.

The show is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Shrine Center, 586 Main St., Bangor.

Admission is a $1 donation for adults, and free for children 12 and under.

Proceeds from the event will benefit The Sunshine Club’s Transportation Fund for children who are patients at the Shriners Burn Unit in Boston or the Shriners Orthopedic Hospital in Springfield, Mass., Kaufman wrote.

The fundraiser features musical entertainment at 1 p.m. at the Holiday Market, hourly door prizes, crafts, collectibles, antiques and a raffle for a queen-size quilt made by club member Connie Lozier, in the Northern Lights pattern.

Kaufman hopes you will stop by the sale “to shop, have lunch in the cafe and thus help the Sunshine Club’s Transportation Fund for children.”

She also wants readers to understand that “if you, or someone you know, could benefit from the services provided by the Sunshine Club for Children,” you should call Deb Dunham at 285-7758 for more information.

A Wee Bit Farm has donated 25 pounds of “mixed meat cuts” that will be won by someone during a raffle drawing at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Curran Homestead at Fields Pond in Orrington.

President John Mugnai reports last-minute raffle tickets can be purchased 1-6 p.m. that day at the farm during its “Not So Scary Halloween Celebration,” which has been “designed for preschoolers and their families.”

Tickets are $3 each, two for $5 or five for $10. Proceeds benefit Curran Homestead restoration and education projects.

For more information, call 945-9311.

It’s going to be a busy Saturday for members and friends of Church of Universal Fellowship in Orono.

Cathy Marquez reminds readers its Fall Fair is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day at the church, 82 Main St., and Phyllis Borns wants readers to know that in addition to baked goods, plants, gift items and lunch, Jean Desrochers will offer “a selection of all-natural wreaths.”

Also, Borns wrote, church youth group co-adviser Cami Carter and members of the Young Adults With Pizzazz will have a sign-up list at the fair and at the church office for its Random Acts of Kindness Hotline.

YAWP will help by performing random acts of kindness for those in need ranging from shoveling driveways to cleaning up neighborhood parks or supplying a warm meal.

You can sign up for this service at the fair or by calling the church office, 866-3655, to have YAWP assist your neighbors.

Then, at 7 that evening at the church, the public is invited to a candlelight service in honor of All Saints Day, featuring the church’s Senior Choir.

Altar candles will honor loves ones who died during the past year, and names may be placed on this Memorial List by calling the church office.

Rebecca Drew e-mailed that the 28th annual Christmas Craft Fair is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Island Falls Municipal Building.

Drew reports Santa Claus will appear at 10 a.m.; a lunch featuring soup, hot dogs, homemade sweets and drinks will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and you will find “35 tables of only handmade crafts” with “no resale items” at this event.

Sponsored by the Island Falls Recreation Department, all proceeds will benefit the Island Falls playground.

Drew suggests the “ladies let the men go hunting” while you do some “shopping for Christmas.”

Dan Taylor and his kitchen crew invite you to their hunter’s breakfast, 4-9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Ralph Pollard Masonic Lodge, 730 River Road, Orrington.

John Kidder reports the cost is $6 for adults and the same price for two children under 12 for this meal of “eggs cooked to order, ham, baked beans, home fries, biscuits, doughnuts, coffee and milk,” and you can purchase raffle tickets for a Peggy Hunt quilt.

Proceeds benefit the lodge’s charitable and accessibility efforts.

Jayne Gove, a member of Hermon High School Class of 2009 Project Graduation, wants outdoor sports fans to know that organization is hosting a hunters’ breakfast 5-10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, in the cafeteria at HHS.

The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children 12 and under and all proceeds benefit Project Graduation.
