PORTLAND – A reward for information leading to the arrest of the killer of a Portland hospital security guard is being extended, and expanded.

Officials announced Thursday at the Portland Police Department that the reward will remain in place after the original deadline of Nov. 1. Also, the reward has grown to $41,000.

James Angelo was on the job at Mercy Hospital when he was shot in the back early on Sept. 7 after speaking to two men. The shooting happened in a hospital parking lot.

Acting Police Chief Joe Laughlin says Portland detectives have been working with federal agencies. He calls it a “difficult investigation,” but he says progress is being made.
