GORHAM – Junior forward India Lowe scored an unassisted goal at 66:18 to break the 1-1 tie and lead fourth-seeded University of Southern Maine to a 2-1 college field hockey victory over No. 5 Salem State College to advance to the Little East Conference semifinals.

Caitlin Albert scored off a Lowe assist at 45:34 to it at 1-1 for the 10-10 Huskies. Allison Hill made four saves off nine shots.

Megan Closson scored in the first half with an assist from Julie Brooks for 9-8 Salem State. Jessica McKenna turned away three of nine shots.

Men’s soccer

Saint Joseph’s 2, Lasell 0

At Newton, Mass., Doug MacCallum scored both goals as No. 3 Saint Joseph’s College of Standish shut out second-seeded Lasell College to advance to the GNAC final.

Paul Robins assisted both of MacCallum’s goals for the 12-5-3 Monks. Will Pike saved seven of 18 shots.

Julian Dutton made three saves off 12 shots for 12-7-0 Lasell.
