Big School (Classes A-B)
JOHNNY WARREN
The Bangor senior played a key offensive role in leading the Rams to the Eastern Maine Class A boys soccer final. He had one assist in a 3-0 quarterfinal win over Hampden Academy, and also earned Bangor a penalty kick that was converted into a goal. He followed that up with a goal in Bangor’s 2-0 semifinal victory over Mount Ararat of Topsham.
Small School (Classes C-D)
RICHIE CHILSON
The Greenville soccer player scored five goals in two postseason games to lead the second-seeded Lakers to the Western Maine Class D final. Chilson scored twice in a quarterfinal victory over Chop Point of Woolwich, then had three goals in a 6-2 semifinal win over Greater Portland Christian.
GIRLS
Big School (Classes A-B)
ABBY MACE
The Maranacook of Readfield freshman blitzed the Class B field at Saturday’s state cross country championships in Belfast. Mace toured the 5-kilometer course in 18 minutes, 48.59 seconds, good for the day’s fourth-fastest time.
Small School (Classes C-D)
BRITTANY CHARETTE
The Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook senior helped lift the top-ranked Warriors into the Eastern Maine Class D final against Ashland. Charette scored the only goal in Saturday’s double-overtime, semifinal victory over Katahdin of Stacyville with 8:44 remaining in the second OT.
