Grimace spending the day at Ronald McDonald House

BANGOR – The Bangor Ronald McDonald House, located at 654 State St., will celebrate World Children’s Day 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8. The public is invited to attend and there is no admission fee.

The lovable McDonald’s character, Grimace, will make an appearance 10 a.m.-noon.

The Queen City Club, a local sorority, will provide the program for this fun-filled day that will include children?s games and activities, a bounce house, silent auction, refreshments and more.

This World Children’s Day event benefits the Bangor Ronald McDonald House and its programs.

Throughout November, World Children’s Day is celebrated around the world to benefit millions of children. Founded in 2002, the annual fundraising program raises money for Ronald McDonald Houses, Ronald McDonald House Charities and other vital children’s causes.

Located at 654 State St., the Bangor Ronald McDonald House is a 14-bedroom “home away from home” for approximately 450 families of ill children receiving medical treatment each year.

Founded in 1983, “the house that love built” helps people in Maine with comfortable short-term residential accommodations during their medical crisis. In addition, the Bangor Ronald McDonald House Extensions Program provides services beyond housing to families being treated for cancer or blood disorders.

The Bangor Ronald McDonald House is the product of the effort, energy and caring of local volunteers, parents and business leaders, and the owners of McDonald’s Restaurants in Maine. For information, call 942-9003.
