The Maine Wildlife Park in Gray will close for the season at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
The park will mark Veteran’s Day by recognizing and thanking all past and present Maine military personnel by offering them free admission to the park on the final day of the season.
The Maine Wildlife Park has more than 30 species of native wildlife on display, plus wildlife gardens, nature trails, and other interactive exhibits and displays. The park is open daily through Nov. 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; visitors must leave the premises by 5 p.m.
Regular admission to the park is free for ages 3 and under; $4 for ages 5-12; $6 for adults, and $4.50 for seniors. Groups of 15 or more are $3 per person.
In addition, 2009 season passes are now available for the first time on the Internet. Go to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife’s online store at www.mainewildlifepark.com.
And while the park will officially close on Tuesday, a new program will offer special guided winter tours on cross country skis, snowshoes or on foot for exclusive access to the animals in a winter setting.
The tours are available only through reservation, and are only offered on certain days.
