Milo man, 34, dies after car hits tree

ATKINSON – A Milo man died Tuesday night when his vehicle left Stagecoach Road on a curve and struck a tree.

Stephen R. White Jr., 34, was taken by ambulance to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor after the 8 p.m. accident, Lt. Robert Young of the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department said. White died later that night at the hospital, he said.

“At this point there is nothing to indicate alcohol. It appears he may have fallen asleep,” Young said. Investigator Jamie Kane is reconstructing the accident to help determine the cause, he said.

White was extricated from the vehicle by Dover-Foxcroft firefighters, who assisted at the scene. His 1999 Pontiac two-door vehicle was demolished.
