FAIRFIELD – Billy Clark rushed for two touchdowns and converted two PAT rushes as No. 4 Skowhegan upset top-seeded Lawrence in an Eastern Maine Class A football semifinal 30-22 Friday night.
Skowhegan advanced to next weekend’s regional final against the winner of today’s semifinal between No. 3 Lewiston and No. 2 Edward Little of Auburn.
Dylan Lancaster scored on a 3-yard run in the first quarter for Skowhegan. Jordan McGowan completed an 82-yard touchdown pass to Peter Boardman in the third.
Jesse Longstreet returned a kickoff 77 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter to put Lawrence on the board.
Bulldogs’ Brock Lawrence added a 1-yard run in the third to tie it at 14-14.
McGowan’s 82-yard pass followed by Clark’s 45-yard run in the fourth gave Skowhegan a two-touchdown lead.
Matt Perkins caught a 10-yard pass from Ben Violette in the fourth and Violette added a 2-point rush to bring Lawrence within eight points.
